A few days ago, I mixed these cocktails after me and my team got out in 90-degree weather to knock doors in Warren, Michigan as we work to flip Michigan’s 10th District blue. After knocking, my team came over for game night, we played Ticket to Ride and a few rounds of BS. I love making cocktails, and I wanted to...

A few days ago, I was out knocking on doors when a voter stopped me before I could even get through my introduction. “I already voted for you. I voted for you because of your position on healthcare.” The man had an adorable puppy named Daisy that my son and I got to play with while we talked. He has worked in...

My whole team has been surviving on coffee and Alanis lately—the drink, not Alanis Morissette. We truly have been consuming an unhealthy amount of caffeine. In fact, we’re often handing each other another cup before anyone has even asked for a refill. That’s the moment we’re in. Absentee ballots are arriving in...

Last week, I was on the phone with a supporter when he said something that has stayed with me ever since. He told me, “I’m spending a good chunk of my kids’ inheritance on political candidates who will ensure they have a democracy.” I haven’t stopped thinking about that, because I immediately knew exactly what he...

The American Dream Is Frozen By Christina Hines | Mom on a Mission, Special Victims Prosecutor & Candidate for Congress (MI-10) Growing up, I was one of those kids who babysat, cleaned houses, and mowed lawns to earn a few extra dollars, but my first “real” job - like a clock-in, clock-out job - was working in the...

Happy Father’s Day to all of the dads, stepdads, grandpas, uncles, father figures, single parents, mentors, coaches, and advocates who show up every day for the people they love. I’ve been blessed with an incredible father and father-in-law, as well as other father figures throughout my life. Today, I want to tell...

I’m about to nerd out, so if you are not interested in a good Lord of the Rings conversation, you might want to skip this one! I first read The Lord of the Rings in middle school — right after I saw The Fellowship of the Ring in theaters with my family. I didn’t expect to fall in love with it the way I did. I’m not...

Republicans are winning the redistricting battle. Virginia’s attempted redistricting reform failed, and with the Voting Rights Act dismantled by the conservative Supreme Court, Republican legislatures across the South are drawing maps designed to dilute Black voting power and lock Democrats out of seats we should be...

The last time I wrote about my mom here, it was in the context of her illness and how it helped inform my position on healthcare. But it’s Mother’s Day Weekend, and so I’m not really thinking about her illness—I’m thinking about who she was and the legacy she created. My mom was a singer. I remember her singing...

Great news. It’s officially perfect weather in Michigan season! It’s chalk, porch swing, and sidewalk season. And it’s also prime door-knocking season!! This is my favorite campaign activity to do with my kids. When we had our canvass launch (with about 50 people who showed up!) in Rochester Hills, we made goodie...

I’ve spent my career holding people accountable. As a prosecutor, that meant standing up for victims and making sure the rules applied to everyone. But I do not believe the rules are being applied equally anymore. The people with the most money and influence are calling the shots, and they are playing by an entirely...
